A Salisian Lee LLP trial team today secured a substantial victory on the 9th day of a jury trial in Los Angeles County Superior Court, totaling $4.275 million in compensatory and punitive damages in the client’s favor.
The firm represented the plaintiff, an individual and former General Counsel of a billion-dollar, Long Beach-based real estate company, in his lawsuit against that defendant former employer on claims for, among other things, breach of oral contract and fraud. The claims largely centered on two different incentive bonuses that the defendant former employer had refused to pay the client.
On October 31, the jury returned verdicts in the client’s favor on breach of oral contract and fraud against the defendant former employer and awarded $2.525 million in compensatory damages. On November 1, the jury returned a verdict in the second phase of trial in the client’s favor on his request for a punitive damages against the defendant for an additional $1.75 million in punitive damages. Thus, the total verdict in his favor amounted to $4.275 million.
The client was represented at trial by partner Richard Lee and associate Natalie Rastegari, with support behind the scenes from paralegals Christina Cordero and John Winship, among others.
